Invisalign® teeth straightening system is a revolutionary alternative to traditional braces that is perfect for those wanting a discreet straightening option. Using a series of clear custom-made aligners that are changed regularly, Invisalign re-aligns your teeth slowly and with minimal interference in your daily life.
Invisalign treatment is currently the most comfortable option for teeth re-alignment, and unlike traditional braces, allows you to maintain normal everyday brushing and flossing to keep teeth and gums healthy.
The Invisalign process involves an initial consultation, where your dentist takes impressions, photographs and x-rays of your teeth to be used in creating your individualised realignment plan.
From this, a computer simulation is created to show you how the teeth will be moved over the course of the treatment. This allows the patient to get a good idea as to how the teeth will look at the completion of Invisalign treatment.
If you and your dentist agree to go ahead with Invisalign treatment, you’ll be issued with your first set of clear retainers, with each retainer designed to be worn for two weeks.
We’ll monitor the progress of your Invisalign re-alignment closely during your visits every six weeks until the treatment is complete.
Many factors are taken into account in deciding whether Invisalign or normal fixed braces are right for you, so speak with your dentist to discuss your options.
How does Invisalign work?
You’ll wear each set of Invisalign clear aligners for approximately two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will shift week by week until they have straightened to the final position for a beautiful smile. You’ll also visit our practice about once every six weeks to ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time typically lasts 9 to 15 months, and the number of clear aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but treatment time varies from case to case
